If you have a resource concern on your farm, problems on cropland, pastureland, hay-land, or forest-land that you need assistance in solving, please come by the Monroe County NRCS field office and fill out an application. The first batching period for ranking and prioritizing applications will be October 26, 2007. If all funds are not obligated during the first batching period, additional batching periods will be held as needed until all monies are exhausted. Applications will be ranked and prioritized based on a state-wide ranking worksheet. Those applications with the highest point totals from this ranking worksheet will be funded first.

In the case of a tie in points, priority will be given to the application with the lowest cost. The applications will be prioritized based on local concerns. Special consideration will be given to Beginning Farmers and Limited Resource Farmers.

The local concerns that have been prioritized are:

  1. Erosion/Soil Quality
  2. Grazing Lands
  3. Forest Health and Wildlife
  4. Water Quality (Animal Waste)

Practices and cost-share percentages will be the same as the Alabama NRCS state EQIP Practice and Payment Schedule. There is a 200 Acre limit for High Residue Practices: Program payments are limited to one contract per entity/farm operation for the life of the farm bill. There is a 70 acre limit per applicant for Forest site prep and Tree planting practices.
