The Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina

NRCS State Conservationist views damaged cotton crop with landowner. The massive Category 4 hurricane's eye hit land near the Mississippi/Louisiana border.  It was almost 250-mile wide (90,000 sq mile).  It devastated an area the size of Great Britain along the southern coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Alabama NRCS is working to assess damage to watersheds, agriculture, and timber in the affected areas.
