Minority Community Leadership Initiatives

NRCS has recognized that assistance from local leaders within the minority community is key to the dissemination of information concerning programs that NRCS administers.  Therefore, the Assistant State Conservationist for the West Region arranged to have two minority farmers from each of the 22 counties attend a half-day workshop on NRCS programs.  The farmers then returned to their communities to pass on the information to other farmers, with the intent of enabling more minority farmers to take advantage of available programs.
