WHIP Priorities for Alabama FY2007

Species Priorities
  • Threatened, endangered and declining species
  • Bobwhite quail and other species of wildlife which are dependent upon grassland/shrub habitat.
  • Waterfowl
  • Wild Turkey
  • Neo-Tropical Migratory Birds
Habitat Priorities
  • Declining rare, endangered or unique ecosystems/communities of State and National significance
    • Blackland Prairie
    • Longleaf Pine
    • Wetland Savannah
      • Cave/sinkhole System
    • Sandhill Habitats
    • Limestone/Sandstone Glades
    • Bald Cypress Swamps
  • Early successional vegetative habitat (native grasses and/or shrub cover). This can consist of open land or open canopy forestland understory.
  • Longleaf Pine Habitat
  • Waterfowl and wading bird habitat
  • Quality upland and bottomland hardwood stands
  • Riparian forest buffers
